Mortal Kombat 3 (Sega Genesis) – Motaro

The Genesis port of Mortal Kombat 3 was developed by Probe Software and published by Acclaim Entertainment in 1994.

Motaro Playthrough

Motaro keep his role as the sub-boss in Mortal Kombat 3. Motaro is playable with a cheat in the Genesis port, but only in versus mode. The game will prevent the cheat to work if in single player mode (even if you defeat the second player and he/she doesn’t continue). A cheating device is required to force the player to be him. With a Memory Editor, the code FF0126000F will change player 1 to Motaro.

Motaro is the strongest, cheapest and most destructive character in the whole game. Projectile bounce back to his opponent and all his move have huge priority. He has only a few moves, but all of them do as much damage as an uppercut. He can punch, kick with his back legs and do a sweep with his tail at long range. He can also grab opponents to punch them and throw a large red projectile toward them. Finally, he can teleport around the arena. Although the CPU can throw as many projectiles or teleport as it wants, the player can only do both move once with a small delay before they can be done again.

Beating the game as Motaro is a breeze. Since he is not intended to be fought against CPU, they might try to throw the projectile, only to bounce back to them. When fighting himself, the game will slow down and Motaro will have strange animation and delay after getting hit by his clone.
In the original Mortal Kombat 3 for the Sega Genesis, Motaro’s ending will crash the game and show an error on the screen.

Performing High or Low Kick during the match has a tendency to crash the game unless his opponent is airborne or a projectile is currently on the screen. This does not happen when you play as him in 2 players mode. In a Mirror Match, the CPU Motaro will have a glitched blue palette. Motaro will fight every character and bosses in his stage (The Balcony) except the first opponent.
