In MK2, Scorpion, like the other ninja character, all have a new costume design that they share by having different colours.

He stays with his Spear and his Teleport Punch. For the latter, he can now perform it in the air. Scorpion is also one of the few characters with an air throw. If close to an airborne opponent, he will be able to throw him with the same animation as his regular one. He also gains a unique move which consists to catch his opponent with his leg and dropping them on the ground.

In the PlayStation and Sega Saturn port of the game, the CPU seems to get caught by the Spear more often. This was not the case in the Arcade and version that have the same AI, has the CPU would avoid it in most circumstances, unless caught in the air or at the beginning of their attack. This makes it much easier to play as Scorpion and beat the game. His jump kick, followed by a spear and an uppercut is his main combo. His Scissors kick is not used often because the CPU will block it and will often successfully counter. His roundhouse kick is also very fast, allowing him to hit his opponent twice and even three times before he can fall down, but must be done in a corner. He shares that trait with Reptile and Sub-Zero, since they share the same base character. It is also an excellent anti-air.
