Game description

Donkey Kong 3 is the third game in the classic Donkey Kong series from Nintendo. Unlike the two previous games, this play much different is more obscure. The NES port is the only official port of the game. However, the NES version was later brought to the Wii Virtual Console.

Donkey Kong 3 is notable to not feature Mario or Donkey Kong Jr. The former is replaced by a man named Stanley the Bugman who must defend the Greenhouse.

As a secondary effect of Donkey Kong breaking in the Greenhouse, numerous insects and small animal will try to attack Stanley and steal the flower. When the five flowers are stolen or Stanley loses all his life, the game end. In both cases, however, it is possible to have extra life and flowers.

Donkey Kong won’t attack Stanley directly until he is too close him, in which case he will drop and cause Stanley to lose a life. In later level, he will start throwing coconut through. Stanley will fight the numerous Guards, Buzzbee and Beespy. There is also Creepies that will block any attack from Stanley if hits.

Speaking of which, Stanley defends himself with a fast-shooting spree. It will eliminate most enemies in a single shot, but some require more than one hit. Donkey Kong himself must be sprayed numerous times until he is at the very top of the screen. Doing so is the main objective of each level.

The USA version is used for this run. The main goal is to have the highest score before it overflows to 0. The main strategy is to focus on Donkey Kong in order to finish round as fast as possible.
