Mortal Kombat Trilogy (Playstation) – Sub-Zero

The Playstation version of Mortal Kombat Trilogy was developed and published by Midway Games (in North America and Europe) in 1996 for the North American and European market and in 1998 for the Japanese market.

Sub-Zero playthrough

Sub-Zero is identical to his Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 form. He doesn’t gain any new move or animation.

His power of ice is extended with news moves. His classic Ice Blast is still in his arsenal, but he now has the ability to clone himself in order to lure his opponent in and get frozen in the process. He also has his Ice Shower move that can be controlled to be behind him, in front or at the farthest of him. Lastly, his slide will end all of his combo finely. 5 combos are possible with him, but they are all variations of his fourth one, which is the most important of the lot.

Against the CPU, Sub-Zero main concern is his timing. In most circumstances, the CPU will get frozen by Sub-Zero’s Ice Blast if well placed, but they will react rapidly to his Ice Clone and Ice Shower. With a single move in between, Sub-Zero can freeze two times in the same combo, adding more possibilities. Since the bosses can’t crouch, it is possible to spam Ice Blast followed by a punch, repeating the pattern over and over.
