Mortal Kombat Trilogy (Playstation) – Human Smoke

The Playstation version of Mortal Kombat Trilogy was developed and published by Midway Games (in North America and Europe) in 1996 for the North American and European market and in 1998 for the Japanese market.

Human Smoke playthrough

This form of Smoke is referred in the credits as Ninja Smoke, but he is commonly known as Human Smoke. He is very similar to his Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 forms. His main difference is a new set of 2 Fatality that is unique to him (his Fatality in UMK3 was the same as Ermac’s Fatality 1) as well as an Animality and a Friendship. In terms of fighting, he is a clone of UMK3 Scorpion, but he has some combo that are unique to him.

Like Scorpion. Human Smoke is a simple but powerful character to use. His Spear is fast and he can use his Teleport Punch at any time (airborne or not). In addition, he has an air throw that is often used as a combo under. Human Smoke’s main difference from Scorpion is two unique combos that when used, launch the opponent in the air for more combo possibilities.

Human Smoke works wonder against the CPU because of an AI Bug. Normally, each time you jump back and you perform a move. A very hard CPU will always throw its projectile. However, Human Smoke can use his Teleport Punch to hit his opponent from the other side and immeaditly throw his spear. The CPU will always get caught in this. Because of his combo that launches his opponent, he can deliver more damage than Scorpion as he can perform longer string of combos.

As a side note, Mortal Kombat Trilogy is the first game where Human Smoke is playable from the start. He was a hidden unplayable character in MK2 and a secret character in UMK3. He is also the only character (with Chameleon) that Shang Tsung can’t morph into, but it is very probable that it is an oversight and not intentional.
