Chameleon Playthrough
Chameleon is the second original character introduced in Mortal Kombat Trilogy (MKT). Although the version of Johnny Cage of that game is complete new, Chameleon does not have his own sprite, instead taking form of any of the male ninja in the game. However, he has a partial opacity which make him stand out from the other ninja. It was the second attempt to bring him in the game, since he was found in the source code of the Super NES and Sega Genesis version of UMK3 and an unfinished version of him can be played with Action Replay code.
Chameleon is the true secret character of the game. He can’t be selected on the character selection screen. Similar to how Human Smoke could be played in UMK3, the player as to select any of the male ninja and input the following command (Back + High Punch + High Kick + Block + Run) before the match starts. If correctly done, the ninja will have a partial shade and Chameleon’s name will appear on the bar.
Chameleon switch between ninja at the same interval. However, the ninja he becomes is random (and sometime, can be the same than the one you currently had more than one time). When this happens, he gets invisible for a few frames before returning with the color of the ninja. This animation does not cause delay, so you can move Chameleon at all time. You have access to every move (including fatalities) of the current ninja. Since you can change color in the middle of moves, this can create interesting combo that would be impossible in normal time.
As a side note, he is not present in the Nintendo 64 version of Mortal Kombat Trilogy, being replaced by Khameleon, who have the same role, but switch between the female ninja (Kitana, Mileena and Jade) instead of the male ninja.
